Debbie

Hi, I’m Debbie and this is my story.

My website creation curiosity started in 2007 when I decided to learn more about HTML and bought a book for beginners. It wasn’t the prettiest, but my first site coded from scratch was online in a day!
After working with other WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) software, which were a lot easier than HTML coding, I stumbled onto blogging with TypePad and WordPress.
Took a webinar on WordPress… and I’ve been learning, creating, tweaking, fixing websites with it ever since. This is how I can offer my expertise to creative entrepreneurs. You don’t want to take 10 years to become an expert when all you want is to focus on your business and being creative!

My promise to you

The best job I can do, to deliver top quality I would expect from someone I hired for my own projects. The guarantee to complete the project to your expectations and satisfaction. Above and beyond customer service, with clear communication.

Fun facts about me

  • I’m multicultural and so are most of my friends and family
  • Sometimes I don’t remember in what language I’m reading
  • Seldom cook the same thing twice in one year
  • Danced ballet, jazz, modern, salsa and flamenco
  • I will eternally learn something (new)
  • Love, love flowers (can you tell?)
  • “Southern girl” from South America to Marietta, Georgia.

What others say…

Great customer service & excellent support

Izabel Blankenship, Portuguese/Spanish Translator @ Bela Lingua Translations

Debbie provided great customer service and excellent support when our website was attacked by virus. She worked diligently to restore our website and it was back up and running in no time. Debbie also provides wonderful support showing us how to update and manage our website. I would recommend her services enthusiastically.

Valuable guidance

– Daryl Jaeger, Hospitality Consultant

When I started my Hospitality Consultancy business, I was in need of a professional website. I had doodled with web page design before and wanted to create my own content. I needed someone to guide me to the best platform to make that happen and host the site too.  Debbie immediately hosted the site, but most valuable was the guidance towards a publishing platform, helping me decide on the best template for my purpose, and facilitating tutorials when I got stuck in my designs or publications.  I would recommend Debbie’s services to anyone who needs a web presence, regardless of the level of support needed.

eBooks

I read a lot: from paper books and magazines, to news and blogs online, newsletters coming to my Inbox or mailbox, digital guides or eBooks, you name it and I’ll read it if the topic interests me. When I first started to learn WordPress, I created a food blog with my sister to share our food adventures and experiments. We grew up with it and love tasty food, so naturally I started looking into what made our homecooked meals taste so good. I wrote recipe books on spices and herbs in Asian cooking and published on Kindle. This progression from blogging to self-publishing was a journey that taught me a lot about the process of formatting and converting my eBook for Kindle on Amazon. It was not a quick process and I can’t remember how many times I ran the conversion before publishing my first book. Formatting was off, the photos were not clear, I found a typo, and I just couldn’t publish something that was mediocre. Now that I have the expertise, you don’t have to waste your time trying to figure it out yourself. Let me help to prepare your eBook for Kindle on Amazon, ePUB on Barnes & Nobles or PDF for Adobe Acrobat Readers.

Writing

When you love words, written or spoken, reading or writing, in one language or another, your world just expands. I studied to become a Spanish translator, in a country where English was my second language (my first is Dutch) and I can’t help but use my language skills to learn and educate. Whether it’s on my food blog, on this site, or as a ghost writer for clients, I’m so glad I can put my college research and creative writing skills to work. As a language professional I know how important accuracy is in translations or original texts. Call it a natural skill, but I often feel like typos and other errors jump out when I’m reading a book or digital content.
